Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

The world's largest salt flats sit at 3653m above sea level and cover a huge 12,000 sq km. Once a prehistoric salt lake called Lago Minchin, it dried up leaving deposits that you can now drive across for hours. Islands have remained including Isla los Pescadores which is coral covered in cacti and the towering Licancabur Volcano.
Our 4x4 trip (a previous overland truck had sunk into the lake for being too heavy!) took us all over ending at the Salt Hotel to watch sunset. Trip Leader Mel and Driver Andy also got engaged which was wonderful news to hear!

Mel and Andy, the happy couple!
