Cerro Torre Ice Trek - Patagonia, Argentina
Having arrived in the small village of El Chalten in Argentinian Patagonia, we decided to join an ice trek onto the Glacier Grande. The glacier can be found next to Cerro Torre which is situated alongside Mt. Fitzroy in a spectacular range of peaks.
Leaving at 7am, we walked for 3 hours to Cerro Torre base camp where we were kitted out with crampons and a climbing harness. A further 2 hour walk took us across a river using the harness and a pulley system and finally to the edge of the glacier. The weather was perfect, with stunning views of Cerro Torre and surrounding scenery. Once on the glacier we walked for 3 hours, being guided around the constantly changing ice and peering into deep crevases. We even had the opportunity to climb up an ice wall using our crampons together with ice axes and ropes - very exciting! We arrived back to our hostel after 13 hours feeling totally shattered, but very happy.

Your so lucky! It looks loads more exciting than being at school. I cant wait for the pictures of Japan! You have still got loads more places to visit, it seems you have been away longer than you actually have. Stay safe and have a great time!
