Auckland, New Zealand
We arrived in Auckland after crossing the international date line so although the flight was only five and a half hours, we lost a whole day. The 20th January 2007 never really existed for us!
Quite a culture shock after being in South America for so long. Auckland is a nice and compact city with a gentle pace of life. We have really enjoyed the food since getting here - lots of Asian food from Indian curries to Japanese sushi.

Hi Rebecca and Stephen! First Happy Birthday Stephen!!! Wish you all the best for the next decade! We just wanted to say that we love following you on your journey! Your photos are really good. So happy that we could spend the first weeks of our South-America-journey with you! Hope that we'll see you in November.

Hi Becca and Steve,
Just seen Camilla and Marius´comment. I didn´t realise it was Steve´s birthday. I hope you had a lovely day. The photos of Easter Island, especially the sunset and the dancers, are amazing. Another place to add to our list (along with the Galapagos, Antartica, the Amazon, Africa, Russia...)! Must be weird to be in a place like New Zealand and away from South America. We´´re in Campo Grande and it certainly feels like a South American town. I´ve sent you an e-mail about what we´re up to, so I won´t elaborate. Hope you´re well. Love, Sandra & Paul

Hi Stephen and Becca
Very jealous of your arrival in lovely New Zealand. It was just over a year ago now that we cable jumped off the top of the Sky Tower. Worth a go, although I screamed like a little girl all the way to the bottom.
My Dad said that he sent you a message, but I thought I'd let you know that a new Ablett has arrived. Baby Owen arrived a week late on 8th January. I look forward to introducing him in person on your return.
Enjoy the rest of NZ. Make sure you include a trip to Rotorua if you can. It's incredible.

Hello everyone.
Sorry the blog has been a bit slow of late. There are not so many internet cafes in NZ. We will be updating soon.
Lauren, it is really good to hear from you. I am glad Yr 8 is going so well for you.
Thanks again for all the comments. we are enjoying NZ. Culture shock at first after being in South America but now we have slight homesickness, as it is so similar to the UK; fish and chips, marmite, and bitter!
