Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation

After seeing the greatest reef in the world, we took a trip to see the oldest tropical rainforest in the world; The Daintree Rainforest - a World Heritage Area. To be classified a World Heritage Area it has to tick one of four boxes. The Daintree is unusual as it ticks all four. We had a fantastic guide who taught us a lot about the flora and fauna of the surrounding area. We took a trip on the Daintree River to spot Crocs in the wild and we were lucky to see three. Crocodiles are territorial so the rangers know where they hang out and as a result they have all been named. Crocodiles are amazing; having survived dinosaurs simply because they buried their eggs unlike the dinosaurs who relied on the heat of the sun, they only have one predator; humans. They were nearly extinct due to hunting in Australia, but this is now of the past and Crocodiles are flourishing in the rivers and sometimes the seas of Australia.

The canetoad, which can be poisonous if eaten by other animals

This crocodile has been on the river bank for about 3 months now...not doing much else!

It's Box Jellyfish season, so vinegar is the first thing to be appled if stung - not put on your chips!
